Day in the Capitol & CAWG Foundation Event
March 15, 2017

CAWG's Day in the Capitol and Foundation Event is right around the corner. Please see important details below regarding both events.

Day in the Capitol

Location: The Citizen Hotel, 926 J St, Metropolitan Terrace

Numbers matter and we need you to turnout with your fellow growers and industry peers for a day of grassroots lobbying in Sacramento on March 15. Our lobbying team headed by Michael Miiller, CAWG Director of Government Relations, and Jack Gualco, The Gualco Group, Inc., have planned an exciting and informative day for you with key legislators and top regulatory officials. The Day in the Capitol is your opportunity to talk with and educate key policy makers about important issues affecting your business.

The Day in the Capitol will begin with registration at 8:30 AM, followed by a speaker program and legislative briefing by a member of the State Legislature that will cover a variety of issues that are important to the business, agriculture and the winegrape growing communities at 9:00 AM. The day will continue with a luncheon featuring speakers that include top ranking administrative and legislative leaders focusing on important industry topics, at 12:00 PM. The group will then head to the State Capitol to meet with state Assemblymembers and Senators to lobby for and against specific bills moving through the legislative process, at 2:00 PM.

CAWG Foundation Reception

Location: The Sutter Club, 1220 9th St

The California Association of Winegrape Growers Foundation (CAWG Foundation) was created to honor the hard work of the men and women who help produce the highest quality winegrapes. As a non-profit public benefit corporation, the foundation was established to conduct education programs, fund scholarships and support research related to the California wine and winegrape industry. The CAWG Foundation is continuing the tradition of supporting the scholarship program with this exciting reception event. The reception will take place at the Sutter Club, and begin at 5:30 PM, with the judging taking place at 6:30 PM.

The event will be paired with CAWG’s Day in the Capitol, with the goal to bring together legislators, other political officials and CAWG members to promote the accomplishments of the foundation and to raise money for the scholarship fund. This year’s event format will once again feature a VIP wine tasting competition where various political leaders will put their decision making to the test by judging a host of wines from across the state. The winning wines will be presented with an award and granted the honor of being considered the best wine as decided by California’s political elite. The reception will also include a silent auction and raffle, with outstanding food, great wine and excellent company, all to support a fantastic cause.
