Overview

The glassy-winged sharpshooter and Pierce's disease pose a significant threat to California crops. Pierce's disease, caused by a bacterium spread by the sharpshooter, can kill grapevines and has already caused millions of dollars in damage. But the pest and the disease also threaten numerous other California crops. CAWG is working extensively with government agencies to fund the battle against the disease, in addition to coordinating with other wine and agricultural organizations throughout the state.
